Would you like an opportunity to connect with our diverse graduate student community? Would you like to learn more about the Graduate School Diversity Office and the resources available to graduate students at the University of Utah? Apply to participate in our virtual University Visit Program!
What is UVP?
Participating in the UVP allows you to acquire a comprehensive picture of graduate student life at the University of Utah (U of U) and Salt Lake City. Think of it as a supplement to your visit with your prospective program and academic department. While we are unable to host you physically on campus, we would still love to connect with you virtually!
Benefits of UVP
With the UVP, you have the opportunity to visit with the Graduate School Diversity Office, the broader graduate student community (e.g. McNair alumni, graduate student parents, members of student organizations, etc.), and graduate student advocates. These conversations allow you to gain greater insight into the factors that matter most to you when making that tough graduate school decision. Past UVP awardees have inquired about:
- Opportunities to build community on campus and with the local community
- Graduate assistantships and fellowships
- Culture of the university and Salt Lake City
- Tips on where to live and the public transportation system
- Family-friendly spaces/events and insight into the K-12 education system
- Unique factors about living in Salt Lake City
How does the virtual UVP work?
Apply using the application link below. If you are selected as a participant, the Graduate School Diversity Office will reach out to schedule Zoom meetings with members of the campus community selected on your application (pending availability). We will also set a day/time for you to connect with us virtually. Depending on scheduling availability, your virtual meetings may take place over a period of two weeks depending on the dates/times you have indicated on your application. Once all of your virtual meetings have been scheduled, you will be emailed an itinerary of your meetings, the dates/times, and the Zoom link.
*We highly recommended that you review our Comprehensive Resource Guide for Diverse Graduate Students prior to your first scheduled meeting.
